Understanding and speaking use different parts of the brain — comprehension grows quickly from listening, but speaking needs low-pressure repetition to become automatic. Most daily situations don't give you that: people switch to English, or you get one try in front of a group. Kompis is a private place to practise out loud (or by text), as many times as you want, with no one listening in and no grade at the end.

Yes. Kompis is an AI Swedish speaking companion. You send a voice note or a text, in Swedish, English, or a mix — Kompis answers back in warm, natural Swedish and keeps the conversation going. You can talk about your day, rehearse a doctor's visit, practise small talk, or work through a scenario you're nervous about.

Practise somewhere no one is watching. Kompis is a one-to-one chat inside Telegram — no classroom, no group, no audience. You can restart a sentence, take a long pause, mix in English when you get stuck, or delete a voice note and try again. Nobody sees your attempts except you.

SFI gives you a few hours a week with a teacher and a group. Kompis fills the days in between — short conversations you can do on the bus, over coffee, or before bed. It's not a replacement for SFI; it's the daily reps that classroom time doesn't have room for.

Telegram is where the pilot runs. It's free, works on iPhone, Android and web, and you don't have to install anything new if you already use it. Building on Telegram means you get a familiar chat interface — voice notes, text, read receipts — instead of learning a new app just to practise Swedish.

No. Kompis runs inside Telegram, which you may already have. If not, Telegram is free to install on iPhone and Android.

Text works too. You can type in Swedish, English, or a mix — and Kompis always answers in warm, natural Swedish.

Yes — Kompis is built to work alongside SFI, not replace it. SFI gives you grammar, structure and a teacher. Kompis gives you daily speaking practice between classes, with no grading and no pressure.

Pilot II is completely free for everyone selected. We're running this to test whether Kompis really helps.

We'll share your progress with you, ask for feedback, and let you know about future access. Pilot participants get priority for ongoing access after July.

Your application data is used only to manage your application. During the pilot, conversation data is used to measure whether Kompis reduces speaking anxiety. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
