For individuals

Nobody is listening. Say it wrong first.

Kompis is a patient Swedish speaking companion. Five minutes a day, by voice or by text, rehearsing the exact moments where you usually switch to English.

What you practise

The moments where you usually go quiet.

Not chapters. Situations participants told us about, rehearsed until they stop being a performance.

Ask someone to repeat, without apologising

The phrase that ends the freeze: kan du säga det en gång till? Rehearsed until it costs nothing to say.

Get through the shift handover

What happened, what is left and what the next person needs to know, said once, clearly, in Swedish.

Report a problem before it becomes one

A spill, a broken lift, a resident who seems off. Practising the sentence is what makes it get said.

Speak to your manager about something difficult

Hours, a mistake, a schedule that doesn't work. Rehearsed first, so it comes out as intended.

Say the thing at the vårdcentral

Where it hurts, since when and what you already tried: the conversation people most often switch to English for.

The loop

Prepare. Practise. Reflect.

01

Prepare

“I have to talk to Anna about my back.”

Tell Kompis about a conversation you have coming up. It keeps it, and brings it back when the day arrives.

02

Practise

“Jag behöver prata med dig om min rygg…”

Say it out loud, or type it. Swedish, English, or a mix. No score, no audience, as many attempts as you want.

03

Reflect

“It went okay. I forgot one word.”

Come back afterwards and say how it went. Kompis notices what worked and what you want to try next time.

Questions

Is it a class? Does it replace SFI? What happens to what I say?
