SFI

Swedish for immigrants (Svenska för invandrare). Basic Swedish education run by municipalities for adults whose first language is not Swedish.

Language requirement in elder care

From 1 July 2026, elder care providers must work to ensure that staff who carry out care have knowledge of Swedish relevant to that care.

Practising speaking out loud, not just reading or writing.

Feeling confident enough to speak, even when you do not know every word.

When someone repeats what you said in more natural Swedish, without correcting you directly.
